Elementary school students' core curriculum emphasizes "the basics" - reading, writing, math, language arts, social studies, science, and physical education. They also have weekly classes in special subjects such as computer lab, Spanish, library skills, art and music. All elementary students also participate in the Accelerated Reader Program.
Elementary school teachers dedicate themselves to providing a learning environment that is both nurturing and stimulating. Students K-3 through grade 6 are in a traditional classroom setting with one teacher for all subjects except physical education.
In order to maintain high academic and behavioral standards, Autauga Academy limits its class size to a maximum number of students. The maximum for K-3 is 11, K-4 is 17, & K5 is 20; for grades one through three, the maximum is 22; and the maximum for grades four through six is 25.
Autauga Academy also encourages parental involvement in special seasonal celebrations, field trips and other enrichment activities. Classroom guests frequently include parents or friends who have careers in the medical and law professions, farming, law enforcement, and engineering.
