As a college preparatory school, students in grades seven through twelve pursue an academic program designed to help them meet the challenges of higher education. As in the elementary school, class size in the upper school is limited to a maximum of 28 students.
The core curriculum includes English, Math, History, and Science. Supplementing the core curriculum are electives in computer, foreign language, journalism and social sciences. Fully equipped computer and science labs provide students with the technology they need to prepare for college. Autauga Academy also offers Dual Enrollment courses in English and History for those students who meet or exceed the criteria.
Courses in grades 7-12 are taught on a traditional schedule of seven, 53-minute periods. All credits earned toward graduation must be earned in grades 9-12. Currently, twenty-six credits are required for graduation.
Autauga Academy students consistently score above the national average on standardized tests, and over 90% of our graduates go on to college.
Beyond the classroom, upper school students have the opportunity to participate in a number of extracurricular activities, including Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Government, Science and Math clubs, Yearbook, and the school newspaper. These programs help prepare our students for roles of leadership and responsibility.
